ROAD for Oracle VM - Oracle VM DR Failover Demonstration

Thank you for watching this ROAD for Oracle VM – DR Failover and Operations Automation Demonstration.

We will do a complete Production and Test DR Failover with 31 virtual machines on replicated OCFS2 and NFS storage repositories, along with replicated RAW database disks.  

First we will access Oracle VM Manager to see the DR Production and Test pools. The Production and Test pools are empty and ready to accommodate the Production and Test resources.

To start the DR failover, ssh to the Oracle VM Manager host, and select the import_block_repo.sh command with its associated runbook.

Enter the Oracle VM Manager IP address, and the IP address of one of the Oracle VM server pool members to start the block storage import. 

The import_block_repo.sh command updates the cluster ID, and Oracle VM Manager ID, as well as changes the network IDs, and RAW disk mappings. Next, the block storage is presented and refreshed. 

Next, select the import_file_repo.sh command and runbook.

Enter the Oracle VM Manager IP address, and the IP address of one of the Oracle VM server pool members to start the file storage import. 

The import_file_repo.sh command will update the Oracle VM Manager ID, as well as change the network IDs, RAW disk mappings. Next, the file storage is presented and refreshed. 

Next, select the migrate_vms.sh command and runbook.

The migrate_vms.sh command migrates the virtual machines from the Unassigned Virtual Machine folder to their respected Oracle VM servers. In this example, the virtual machines are migrated to specific Oracle VM server to comply with Oracle's hard partitioning requirements.

Next, select the start_vms.sh command and runbook.

The start_vms.sh command will start the virtual machines. 

Once the start_vms.sh command completes the entire Production and Test DR Failover will be completed.

Next, in Oracle VM Manager we will confirm that all of the virtual machines and repositories are on-line and error free.
